I’ve long been a fan of Anne Briggs and this is a pretty direct take of her version of The Cuckoo. The birds that you hear in the background were recorded on my phone on a very snowy day in Somerville, Massachusetts, though I’m guessing there weren’t any cuckoos present.

She sucks the little birds' eggs to keep her voice clear
And when she sings cuckoo the summer draws near
